Northern beaches: Luxury house on Bayview’s best street has some of Sydney’s best views

No. 48 Minkara Rd in Bayview is for sale with a $4 million price guide.

With jaw-dropping views, 100 year-old wool shed beams, imported luxury touches and spacious proportions, this Bayview house is one of Sydney’s most picturesque.

Offered for the first time in six years, 48 Minkara Rd is the mastermind of the original owners who spared no expense to hand craft a home 20 years ago.

The current owners who have since come in and extensively renovated the 4500sqm property are now selling it via an online auction later this month with a $4 million guide.

The property has an infinity pool.

LJ Hooker — Mona Vale’s Ryan Petrie said the first thing buyers looking at the property will notice is the attention to detail.

“The slate roof is imported from America so that moss would grow on it, while the handcrafted sandstone walls took a year to build and were quarried on-site,” he said.

“The original owners hand-picked and sourced every material themselves to create a stunning masterpiece.”

With sweeping northeast views over Pittwater, Ridgedale consists of three buildings — a three-bedroom house, a one-bedroom cottage and a detached garage.

Mr Petrie said the cottage was originally planned as a retreat, but has since become a highly sought after Airbnb.

The house is centred around the central living space with french doors and 100 year-old wool shed beams.

“Before the coronavirus, it was generally always booked out,” he said.

Completely private and set back from the street, the master built home is centred around a grand living room with cathedral ceilings and exposed 100 year-old wool shed beams.

The main bedroom is on the ground floor and has a walk-in wardrobe, a freestanding bath tub and french doors opening up to the wrap around veranda.

“The main house has been designed to allow for a couple to live comfortably on the ground floor and have room for visitors up stairs,” Mr Petrie said.

The French provincial kitchen with Pittwater views was installed by the owners six months ago It has a stone and wooden benches, a breakfast bar and designer appliances.

The bedrooms in the main house have plenty of space.

Outside, the property has an infinity pool with sun deck, a paved entertaining area and manicured lawns.

“There is a very European vibe to the house and the outdoor setting,” Mr Petrie said.

The double garage at the top of the property has a gardener’s toilet and inclinator that leads to the house.

Mr Petrie is expecting the house to be popular with older families after a quality home in a private setting that offers a great lifestyle.

“It is in a prestige area and on a large block, so we will see good interest from expats, locals and those from the north shore and eastern suburbs,” he said.
