I hope this is the right sub, but I have a job offer and due to covid a couple of factors:
1) the company is in 100% remote work at this time, but once things settle I will need to be in the new city as its lab based. Current outlook is 5-6 more months of the company being remote with a phase transition to split time in/out of lab.
2) currently unemployed because of covid layoffs. Mortgage is current, etc.
3) I have a house in my current city and will need to sell/rent it out to do the relocation and have no idea how long this and the near resident search will take. ( first time home owner).
4) pretty standard relocation package for mid/sr level employee.
All that said, they offered to start the job within the next few weeks before completing the permanent relocation which can take place in the next few months in q4 (manager is flexible).
Everything I’m reading says to complete relocation before starting a job, but with remote work in the foreseeable 5-6 months I am not sure how to plan this thing.
I have done one relocation out of college, before covid and all the benefits of relocating before the start date, exploring new city, social networking, are all off the table since the new city is on lockdown (effectively).
I’m stressing out! Any advice?
