- Protect Your Pipes:
- Disconnect outdoor hoses, insulate pipes, and drip at least one sink.
- Keep your thermostat at 55°F or warmer.
- Immediately shut off your home’s water supply and contact a plumber if a leak occurs.
- Drive Safely in Cold Weather:
- Equip your car with cold-weather essentials like blankets, a flashlight, and extra food and water.
- Avoid cruise control on icy roads, drive slowly, and increase your following distance.
- Prevent Heating Hazards:
- Keep flammable items three feet away from heat sources.
- Plug only one heat-producing appliance into an outlet at a time.
